Summary

Loss Prevention and health and safety compliance. A risk manager’s job is inspired by “prevention is better than cure.” It’s all about avoiding threats and mitigating the effects of those which are essentially unavoidable

FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Compliance

Implement and maintain systems to ensure that HR Administration is effectively implemented in the store

Provide a methodology to identify and analyse the financial impact of loss to the organisation, employees, the public and the environment.

Examine the use of realistic and – cost effective opportunities to balance retention programs with commercial insurance.

Prepare risk management and insurance budgets and allocate claim costs and premiums to departments and division.

Provide for the establishment and maintenance of records including insurance policies, claim and loss experience.

Assist in the review of major contracts, proposed facilities, and new program activities for loss and insurance implications.

Stock loss and shrinkage.

Security.

Procedures and Legislative requirements

Ensure 100% compliance with company policies and procedures.

Ensure that store is compliant with legislative requirements

Conduct on going coaching and implementation of corrective measures related to risk with relevant managers

Report on discrepancies, investigate and provide recommendations for corrective action

Identifying the necessary legislative training required by stores and notifying HR and L&D to action.

To establish Risk Management

policies and procedures.

Conduct Investigations

Follow internal procedures and legal steps in investigating criminal activities in the store

Compile investigation reports and report on related trends in the business

Effectively utilize tools including but not limited to polygraph, interviews in resolving a case

Ensure timeous follow-up and closure of cases

Regular liaison with the Masscash Risk Management team and store operations team and Legal Team on cases

Risk Assessments

Conduct quarterly risk assessments in all stores/warehouses to identify potential exposure areas and implement corrective measures

Provide recommendations in preventing loss associated with criminal activity both internal focus [including but not limited to cash handling theft, stock rollovers, inventory control, facilities and equipment damage, security access violations, fraud]. As well as an external focus [including but not limited to shoplifting, vandalism, counterfeiting, robbery and store safety] in liaison with the Loss Prevention Manager.

Analyze and assist in actioning recommendations of the risk audit results ensure that staff is performance managed, appraised and developed

Follow all relevant operational procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Audit of compliance to operational procedures and instructions.

Requirements

BGCSE, Relevant tertiary education in Administration, Finance and or related field

Sound knowledge of Policies and Procedures related to Risk and Administration

Knowledge and understanding of legal requirements would be advantageous

experience in store core operations, in a similar environment or a related role

2 years FMCG/retail experience – preferably

1-2 Years management experience

Advanced Microsoft Office skills – advanced Excel is essential

Valid Driver’s license

Ability to Work Without Supervision
